Karen and Tom Mantzouranis – Main Street Movers
Meet Karen and Tom Mantzouranis. This dynamic team leverages 40 years of industry knowledge, analysis of market trends and passion to provide their outstanding and award-winning customer service. In fact, when this husband-wife team started their company Main Street Movers (a Bekins agent) 10 years ago, “treating customers the way they deserve to be treated was the sole inspiration and motivation for its founding.” Over the last 10 years, not only have the Mantzouranis’ not lost sight of their founding goal, but they continue to go above and beyond for their customers and their community.
Karen and Tom know that moves “are a chapter in an individual’s life story” and this is what sets them apart from many others in the industry. Each move is not just a transfer of goods from point A to point B, but also an opportunity to learn about the customer: where they have been and where they are going. Karen and Tom relish the opportunity to get to know their customers and transition with them from one chapter to the next.
When asked if there was a particular move or customer’s story that stuck with them, Karen replied, “It is hard to choose because there are many people that we have been touched by.”
“About two years ago, we were contacted by a local Keller Williams office regarding a move for one of their colleagues. The family fell on hard times due to a devastating illness and lost their home. The realtors pooled their resources to cover the cost of the move, but the family’s plight, along with the generous gesture their friends were willing to make, touched us so deeply that we performed the move for free,” Karen shared.
She added, “we were also very impressed with the selflessness of a newly graduated doctor who was volunteering her services at Elmhurst Hospital (NYC’s ground zero during COVID), so when she needed to get to Pittsburgh to start her residency in the beginning of June we made sure we did what we had to get her there.
Not only do Karen and Tom care deeply about their customers, they are also very involved in their New Jersey community, giving back in a myriad of ways – including working with Burch Charter School of Excellence, a school that is dedicated to tuition-free high-quality education for kindergarten through fifth grade.
In addition to their work with Burch Charter School, Karen and Tom participate in other charitable endeavors such as Wreaths Across America, Associated Humane Societies, Move for Hunger, Girls on the Run, Closing for a Cause and Kidney Cancer Research Alliance.
All of these extracurriculars have not detracted from Main Street Movers’ founding principles. In fact, Main Street Movers has received a number of accolades in recent years for their services, including Bekins’ coveted Spire Award in 2019 and 2020, Mover of the Month Award, Excellence in Hauling Award and New Jersey Warehousemen and Movers Association Mover of the Year Award 2019-2020.
As Karen said, Main Street Movers “will continue tirelessly on its mission to help others. ‘Others,’ she added, extends from Main Street employees, to Main Street customers, to causes and organizations and also the communities in which Main Street’s customers and employees live.”
